由於習慣思維的影響,大家一直都認為2型糖尿病人也是因為胰島功能出現了問題。但是新的科研結論是：
2型糖尿病人……血胰島素水平常高於正常（《實用內科學》第12版第1017頁）；
2型糖尿病人……B細胞儲備功能無明顯低下（《內科學》第978頁）。
2型糖尿病人自身分泌的胰島不但沒有比正常人少，而且比很多比正常人高。現在大型的醫院都有檢測胰島功能的檢測項目，也不貴，大家去做一個就知道自己的情況了，沒有必要再爭來爭去。
